State to invest $15 million to get reluctant New Yorkers vaccinated against COVID

THE BRONX — The state will invest $15 million to encourage the last quarter of New York adults to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as new cases increase in communities with low vaccination rates, officials said. The state has 117 ZIP codes with new daily COVID infections per capita above the 1.88% average statewide positivity and vaccination rate. About 74.6% of New Yorkers ages 18 and older have received at least one vaccine dose and about 68% have completed the vaccine series, according to U.S. Centers For Disease Control & Prevention on Monday. About 25% of New York adults have not been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus., or about 3.5 million people.

ISU Extension And Outreach Offers Farmland Leasing Seminars For Landowners And Tenants

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will begin hosting a series of farmland leasing seminars that will answer common questions from Iowa landowners and tenants. Each two-hour meeting will cover results from the recently completed Iowa cash rent and land value surveys, keys to good tenant and landowner communication, the various types of lease arrangements, proper lease creations and termination, determination of fair rent values and more. Registration is $20 per participant and includes a 100-page Farmland Leasing Arrangements book. The first of the sessions are being held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:30 a.m. at the Greene County ISU Extension Office in Jefferson with an afternoon class offered that afternoon in Rockwell City at 1:30 p.m. Classes will be offered in Sac City and Ida Grove on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in Logan and Onawa on Wednesday, Aug. 11, Carroll on Thursday, Aug. 12, Elk Horn and Denison on Tuesday, Aug. 17 and Guthrie Center on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
